I'm setting up our computers with a wireless router into broadband. So far, the old Celeron desktop cables to the router, my wife's Dell Latitude D505 is OK on wireless with WPA-PSK security.
The trouble I am having is getting my Compaq Presario 2100 to do WPA, it only seems to know WEP. It has an Ambit T60H424 wireless card fitted standard. This laptop is 3 years old.
Is it possible to get it up to WPA-PSK? I can't Google up any reference to this card and any security at all.
Update the drivers for the card and if you use Windows XP, make sure service pack 2 is installed. If neither of these fix it you need to replace the card with one that supports WPA.
Hi there, Yes as the WPA standard wasn't set 3 years ago you will have to download the latest drivers and or connection tools for you wifi card. You can go to here HP Support & Drivers and I think it will detect your machine and tell you the updates you can get. Having the latest Windows SP2 can help to.
Good Luck

Thanks for your responses. I've come to the conclusion that the card won't do WPA, and have decided to upgrade to a faster /g spec card as well. There seems to be a lot of web talk about Atheros cards for the extra range, that's where I'm looking atm.
Thanks again. I'm new to wireless, but learning quickly.
