Trying to connect wifi between 2 houses in an orchard
I am trying to get wifi from house to another. I actually have 2 houses I could start with: 1 is 100 meters from the destination house and I can find line of site (just barely) through the orchard of avocado trees. The other is about 50 meters but is completely surrounded by trees.
I was thinking of getting 2 of these antennas:
(Can't post urls it seems -- hope its alright to try to convey this information, my apologizes if not -- its an antenna I found on ebay: 2.4Ghz 14dbi directional flat panel WiFi antenna wireless Router indoor outdoor)
But when I typed in the specs of these antennas on this calculator:
(its a calculator at radiolabs dot com slash stations slash wifi_calc dot htm)
It looked like this would only be able to get me about 20 meters at best.
I couldn't find any better options either for a way to connect the 2 houses, even at hundreds of dollars all the products I found wouldn't seem to be able to bridge the distance according to the calculator.
This seems odd because so many wifi set ups boast the ability to connect over miles of distance.
Any advice or information any one could offer me would be greatly appreciated.
