I am set on getting a Grid Mesh 24DBI antenna to do some experiments with. I currently have a small homemade 9 element yagi that I am connecting, (albeit marginally) to an AP over 4 miles away using a D-link DIR-615 Rev E3 with DD-WRT. What I am looking for is something a little higher powered (600mw or higher) that will mount on the pole under the grid antenna. Does anyone have any experience with the Engenius devices? or the TP-Link TL-WA5210G? I want something that has a lot of flexibilty in that I may want to do client or client bridge or repeater as well as AP mode.
I am in an excellent location with pretty much line of sight with everything to my east, as I am on a very high hill overlooking several towns up to 40 miles away.
The router must have an external antenna connection.
It would also be nice to be able to see signals in realtime without having to refresh a page.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
I am mainly looking to setup a point to point link to one of my friends about 3 miles away, but I want to experiment for a while.
