Default Wireless card with non standard frequency

Hi,

I'm looking for a wireless card with a non-standard frequency.

specifically, i'm looking for a card that can work on 2600-2700mHz instead of the standard ~2400mHz.

Does anyone know of any such cards?

Thanks!
Aviv.

It is highly unlikely that you will find such a device for several reasons.

1. Regulations are very specific about the operating frequency/spectrum of WIFI devices.
2. If you operate equipment outside the defined frequency/spectrum within your country of use you may be open to prossecution.
3. If you use equipment that is outside the defined frequency/spectrum you may interfer with other equipment that is lawfully allowed to be there.

I am going to assume that you are wanting to get away from the congestion of b/g equipment in your area, and/or you may also be looking at the security side as well, if knowone knows your there they can't intrude on your network. If this is the case, try "a" band equipment, its use doesn't seem to be as great as b/g equipment. The down side is that it has limited coverage area (distance/range).

I hope my comments help.

Regards

Fred

Fred, Hi,

Firstly, thanks for your reply.

Regarding the regulations issue, it is not relevant, but thanks for your advise.

Unfortunetly I have to stick with "B", so the only option i know of if either to find a card that enables to use a different non-standard freq, or attach a converter. my problem with the converters i found on the internet is their size (they are pretty large in comparison to wi-fi chips..

If you happend to hear or encounter a chip or converter i would greatly appreciate it if you could send me: aviv@gita.co.il

thanks!
Aviv.
