The answer to this is very dependent on the terain and other equipment in the immediate area.

Assuming the 2 sites are Line Of Sight (LOS) you may get away with around 9-12db panels. If the sites are not LOS then you may not even make it at all, and you may have to put in 1 or more repeaters. I have a 2.1Km non-LOS connection and I am using 24db grid arrays at both ends. I am using Linksys WAP54G devices with hacked firmware to give me 84mw output.

You need to do some site investigation before you go ahead.

Fred

the 2 sites are in LOS - so what Antennas will be good with it
does 2 bio-directional will be great with 9 dBi?
and if i add another site , 3rd site in between 1.5 km ,also in LOS
does the same antenna bio-directional will be great too with 9 dBi or what do u think?

I am not sure what you mean by bio-directional.

You will have to consider not just the distence between the sites, but also the angle of the sites. This is because if you use a directional antenna (yagi/grid/panel) they all have an angle of coverage from centre. If the sites are outside the angle then they won't work. An omni direction antenna gives 360 degress of radiation, but also means that anyone within range can recieve your signal. You will then need to imploy various security techniques in accordance with the devices you are using.

I can not guarantee that a 9db antenna will do what you are wanting, you will need to do some research on it.

Here is a site where you can calculate wireless signal:
Radiolabs - Wifi Range Calculator
From this site you should be able to establish your antenna requirements.
This is not the only site for this purpose, remember, google is your friend.

Fred

Did you scroll down the the System Performance section of the page I suggested.

Knowone will give you a definitive answer to your question, you must make that decission.

It is plainly obvious that you have limited knowledge of what you are wanting to do.

The answer is simple.

Do your homework, search the net, the answers are there. Google is your friend.

Search for other wifi calculators that will give you an answer you can understand.

Sorry to be so blunt

Fred

Default What's the purpose of the project?

If you are looking to broadcast in a 2km radius for other wireless users to access your wireless connection than a bi-directional will work.

However if you are specifically looking to only share those two connections between those two houses than panel or grid antennas will do best.

It all depends on what you are looking to accomplish.
