Default Wireless N laptop antenna. PCMCIA card or USB?

I'm looking for an "N" antenna for my wife's laptop. Is there a performance difference between the PMCIA cards and USB adaptors? Has anyone seen a review on this? Can anyone recommend a particular product?

pcmcia cards are a dying breed since they are inserted into the computer not much of a antenna sticks out.

I would look at this dual band n usb dongle
