Wireless N network on older PC

I have an old desktop PC with a Pentium 2 233 MHz processor. I tried to fit a TP-Link wireless N PCI network adapter and the PC just would not boot up. A D-link USB 160 adapter did work however, but the speed was slow as the network travels approximately 30m across the lawn from the house to the work place kitchen where I want to run the remote PC just to view emails. What I would like to know is a PCI adapter faster than a USB adapter? Some PCI adapters have external aerials that connect to the PCI adapter. I thought this may work best? Can you help?

Did you try the card in different PCI slots? Also, check the BIOS for the "Plug & Play OS" option and toggle it - when it's off, the BIOS will configure any PnP cards (including the N adapter); when it's on, the BIOS leaves the cards alone for the OS to configure. Sometimes one or the other can have problems doing that, so toggling the setting may help.

first you must be upgrade your system.. otherwise if you will be connected.. but you can avail the actual speed because your system much slow..
