Default Wireless problem!! Help

Hello members
I have a persistent problem.
My setup consists of two xp pro machines.
Previously the first machine connected with(ethernet) to a linksys wrt54g wireless to the second machine(which has a Netgear wireless PCI adapter) and from the wrt54g through a d-link adsl302g modem to the internet.
Now I have changed the Router to a Linksys wag54gp2 Router/modem and took away the previous hardware(wrt54g and d-link302g)
I am able to connect well to the internet and print through the network printer from the first machine. I am not able to ping to the second, it times out. Also cannot ping to the printer(times out) even if I can print very well??
I can only contact the first machine from the second machine if I deinstall the netgear card setup and reinstall it, though as soon as I reboot it does not work anymore.
I have also noticed in the netgear card interface that an old Mac address (I guess from the previos wireless router)is existing and so it looks like there are two connections from the second machine??

Would anyone be able to help me on that, please!
Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks
