We are having an issue with our "integrated" intel wireless adapters on our HP6220 laptops.
Setup Info:HP6220 Notebook with integrated wireless.
OS -> XP PRO SP2
Novell client 4.91sp2
Wireless - Intel Pro/Wireless 2915
Driver version - 9.0.3.9
Issue: Our nc6220 notebooks experience a significant boot-up delay after we install an avalanche client.
It's as though Avalanche breaks something in the adapter registration upon bootup? We think this because after Avalanche is installed the system takes an additional 2min. and 30seconds to boot.
Once this happens there seems to be nothging that can be done except to reimage the notebook to correct the issue.
Wavelink has not been able to help as of yet.
We have tried the following and none of these work:
- Updated Intel Pro/set wireless driver.
- Rollback Intel Pro/set wireless driver.
- Uninstall Avalanche Client and reinstall it.
- Reviewed and modified settings in the Novell Client.
- Uninstall and reinstall the adapter in "System" hardware profile.
Now here's more information that hopefully someone can put more together than I have so far.
This same issue was happening on Dell notebooks with Cisco 350 Aironet cards. After Avalanche installed the notebook experienced the delay at bootup. However... when I was making changes to the "Advanced" tab settings for the Cisco card? upon rebooting the notebook the problem dissapeared. The exact setting made was to add the "Client Name" in that tab. But it's the overall change that causes something to occur which fixes the problem. If the Client Name is already specified, you can set it to not specified and upon rebooting the notebook it will also correct the issue.
The system boots up at it's normal time with no delays, with Avalanche and the Novell Client installed and running.
The main problem is one, I don't have those same options to make that change because the Intel Pro/set drive options are different for the Advanded tab.
At this point my next steps are to reimage the notebook, take a snapshot of it, install Avalanche to break it and then take my final snapshot.
All input appreciated.
Thank you
