Hi,
I just joined this group and would like to obtain some advice on solving a problem with connecting my Lexmark X215 multifunction printer/scanner/fax etc.
Basically I have moved into a new house and the PC and printer need to be separated as I need to connect the Lexmark X215 to the phone socket on the ground floor so I can use the Fax function. My PC is upstairs and is connected to a wireless router/modem. I would like to connect the PC and the X215 multifunction printer via some wireless USB transceiver as I do not have the option to use a 20m USB cable. Is there such a thing as a wireless USB "extention cord" ?? I am not sure if Bluetooth will solve this problem but any advice would be appreciated on how to connect the PC and X215 and retain a transparent USB connection via a wireless USB transceiver link ? I do not want to use a standard wireless
printer server as this will not allow the use of the scanner function on the X215 (only the printer function is useable), and besides I am the only one who neds to use the X215 so a point-to-point PC-to-X215 connection is sufficient.
These guys make an interesting powerline USB adapter
GigaFast but I would prefer a low cost and robust wireless point-to-point solution over about 20 - 30 metres.
Thanks in advance, Mike
