Thumbs down Woosh Booster Antenna...

Hi There,

Does anyone know if a Woosh Booster Antenna (200ANTPKB2) can be used as a 2.4GHz WiFi Frequency range antenna? I want to connect it to my Linksys WRT54GS v1.1 to get better range. If this is not possible what is cheapest outdoor alternative?

Cheers,
W

Default In a word.. No

cellphone based internet connections , such as Woosh, use a completely different frequency band than WIFI and are not modifiable for wifi use.

These are good and fairly inexpensive and can ship with the correct adapter

Buy Wireless antenna,WiFi Antenna,2.4Ghz 5Ghz Wlan Antenna,RF connector,RF pigtail cable,Lightning Protector,802.11 a/b/g, Omni ,panel ,yagi ,Grid antenna

The woosh antenna I have here is for 2000-2100MHz (2-2.1GHz) so it probably won't work
Something like these from Wild South
Directional | 2.4 GHz | Antennas | Go Wireless NZ Ltd
or
2.4 GHz 8 dBi LH Circular Polarized Patch Antenna for sale - TradeMe.co.nz - New Zealand
But with both you'll need to get a rp-tnc to n-connector pigtail/extension like:
N-Male to RP-TNC Male Pigtail | Premade Pigtails | Coax Cable & Pigtails | Go Wireless NZ Ltd
or
N-Male to RP-TNC Male 300cm | Premade Pigtails | Coax Cable & Pigtails | Go Wireless NZ Ltd
Hope this helps.
Lyndon
