Default World?s Longest Wi-Fi Connection

"The Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) announced today that they have transmitted information via a broadband wireless link over a distance of 310km. They believe that this is the longest distance achieved using wireless connectivity.
The link was made between a stratospheric balloon that was launched from Esrange near the town of Kiruna in northern Sweden and a base station located near Esrange."

382 kms???

Dang...how bout from land to land wifi transfer? Because that is like land to air. Land to Land wifi will get some problems over the curvature of the earth.

Thumbs up

The first link can now be found at World?s Longest Wi-Fi Connection Made by The Swedish Space Corporation

The best tool I found to evaluate wireless Point to Point products and LOS (land to land) can be found at Point-To-Point Estimator - Evaluate wireless technology | Overview , they will take into account the curvature of the earth and the terrain as well.

Default Cool, with my awus036h

With my awus036h I have reached a distance of 300 meters. I am thinking about swop my 5db antenna with this. Alfa ARS-N19 BP - Maybe I will get at least 450m If i connect it on the outside.

Or could I use this? Alfa UBDo-g - Alfa Networking Europe
32B, high up on, could I get even twice as much?

Sweden is one of the great country which have high literacy rate in all over the world. There must be such longest Wi.Fi connection that will be great example.

I think Tori hit the nail on the head, that must be land to air transmission, otherwise they would have achieved a miracle, and we would be in a whole other network right now. However, I hope the future lies in some great broadband wireless technology, some science fiction sh*t where we can all upload our whole being into a computer and live forever...oops, sorry, off topic.
