Default Hardware AP / Introduction

Hi ya guys,
I am in Beachhaven and am at this stage a bit of a n00b but I would like to set-up an AP as there are several intersted/building people nearby.
I feel that an AP will be the better way for me to go as nodes will take care of themselves provided there is a network for them to access.

Once I have the AP up and running with more than 1 user connected my intention is to host a Direct Connect Hub to allow the distribution of "personal files" at speeds we cant afford over the internet.

I have been gifted a MN500 (wireless broadband AP) but I believe that it will be totally unsuitable for our current enterprise. (I believe this as it is a retarded pig to configure and I dont wish to share my dsl line over public wireless, and without the dsl router plugged directly into it it has the definite inclination to not work.

So I am wondering if this Linksys WAP51ab will be a suitable investment (~$250nz) it has 18db omni (which appears to be the highest 360degree db omni you can get/make anyway) and looks as if its specs will be ideal if located in an enclosed elevated position.

Just wnating everone elses opinion of the product before I purchase it, and to introduce myself at the same time.
Thanks all and lets get this network up and running full-time. ^_^
