I would like to increase the range of my wi-fi router, a MI424WR. As it is, connection is spotty on the opposite side of the house from where the router is located and it cannot be moved to a more central location. In addition, I was given a Cushcraft 3dB antenna (looks like an ~12" piece of PVC) and in researching the specs on it I found that it is for a wi-fi access point. However, it appears that the router has an opposite sex connection for the antenna it uses and I cannot find a way to connect the Cushcraft to it.
My goal is to get better range without having to change the layout of my router. Am I off in thinking that if I could get the Cushcraft connected to my router this would be the result? If that is the case, is there an adapter that allows connection between this router and a non-original antenna? About all I can find that is even close is an extender that will let me move the stock antenna farther away from the router which I don't want to do. I want to basically leave everything where it is, just get more output. What would you do?
Confused,
