Got my old p1 120 out of the attic.
Sparks up first pop

will be my linux ap box ;p mint! just needing to get the dlink card and aerial.

just make sure it actually has a pci slot :P

A couple of week's ago I dug out my old P100, 1Gb HDD 32Mb RAM and fired it up, it's still happily running the version of Linux I put on it in April 1995.

From memory it had a couple of kernel upgrades, one in 96 and one in 97.

Slackware, kernel 2.0.something. Runs a number of daemons and uses AfterStep and FVWM-95 (what was I thinking?) on top of X.

I bought a new hub that has a BNC connector (difficult to find these days) so that I can attach this box to my network and let people log into it and stuff, purely to see how long it will last, as is, unmodified.

It runs amazingly well and serves as a good reminder how much bloat Linux has added over the last few years to give that little bit extra desktop functionality and eye candy.

Not a good trade off in my view.

hehe new HPs are all good they are actually Compaqs rebadged. Im a compaq service agent and i can surely say the new 6000 series compaq desktops rock.
