Thanks for the info Chris. I believe it is important not to overload your HTML meta tags and description with too many keywords as that will confuse the search engines. I would say around 40 relevant keywords is an absolute maximum for a website.

Always compile your meta description with a short and sharp phrase specific to your website. This helps the search engines to locate your page and index its contents without confusion.
