Hey guys, I'm helping my nephew plan a charity event for his school and we got the idea of setting up a cell phone drive, since almost every household has at least one or more used cell phone just sitting around deactivated. Now, the question is we are trying to find a broker who can help us set up the program since we don't know too much about the industry. We thought about using Phones4Charity since we talked with the owner of the organization, Steve Hopwood and he seemed like a nice guy. What do you guys think?
Most buyback programs offer programs such as these. I actually used Phones4Charity for my church and they offered a really good funding. What happens is that our church simply posted an ad on our newsletter for our cell phone drive and people donated. Then we simply shipped off the phones to their P4C Global office, where they inspected and then resold the phones after they had paid us.
That's not necessary true. Used phones that are often sold or recycled are then converted into refurbished phones or parts for new phones. Plus, they tend to be about 30% cheaper than newer models.
All collected cell phones will be shipped to the Atlanta Zoo (which will make a donation to both Eco Cell and The Diane Fossey Gorilla Fund for each cell phone received). We'll have to estimate shipping costs for this.
