Default Web access in New Zealand

Hi everybody,

Now i live in Swizterland but i'm going to Auckland in two weeks to study English.

On my luggage, i'll take my Apple PowerBook of course. But i have just a question: how can i connect to the internet in NZ ? Free or Cheap. I've a wireless card on my laptop.

I will live there:
The Railway Campus
26 - 48 Te Taou Crescent
Private Bag 106601
Downtown Auckland

Thanks for you help

Hmm i think you underestimate the crappyness of N.Z internet. I dont know of anyone who gives free internet since Net4U went down and im pretty sure theres no one who gives free wireless internet access.
The airports maybe? but i seriously doubt it.

Hmm cheap internet. Slingshot seems alright, $16.95

But youre going to need a modem.

you will probably be living near a cafe with wifi and it'll just be a matter of signing up there and paying a small fee (unless of course it's free) hell your campus might even have a wireless setup, or a fellow student may be accomodating...

Auckland of course isnt as backwards as Palmerston North

ouch burn... lol
So so true though.

yeah have a look at nodedb for Parmi... We are more than HALF of the wireless connections. A couple of those nodes arent there any more. The old Collective one isnt thats for sure.

Hmm does Auckland uni have a hotspot. Would be pretty cool. Would make sense, Massey'll never spend money on something like that, and even then the paper work would take years.

there's bound to be a compsci hostel dweller or tcosy member keeping the campus entertained.. last time I was partying there with mates there was a radio station run from a second floor hostel room...

and chances are it wont be a locked down AP either.. I mean they are students who live by the mentality "we drink on everyday except monday"

(I really cant talk about palmy being backwards.. I was raised in levin )
