Default Wireless AP's

Hey guys,

I'm looking at doing a biggish import of Wireless AP's if not for yourself, to sell on trademe as waterproofed PoE boxs to get people interested. I can get the Dlink DWL AP900+ for +- $140NZ incl shipping and insurance, arrives +-1.5 weeks.

The more we get the cheaper the shipping. Just trying to work out how many we can import before GST is applied. I ordered 3 last time and they didnt seem to have a problem with it, however if i order a bulk, i could say it's not for me, but a mass order from members of this site.

If anyone would be interested in putting some money in the kitty or purchasing some of these, please let me know. Other models can also be purchase, i.e. the DWL 2000 is +-USD$100

Thanks
Barry

The DWL-2000ap is G, goes bridge, client, and ap, and is cheap with detachable antennas, but the power output is low.

I'm keen for some, is the $100us landed here?

I was about to do an order from tiger direct and have a mate bring it back in november, but this will prob be quicker.

When were you planning on ordering them? I cant pay till the 19th/20th.

As a reference (all prices inc gst):

2000AP
Wholesale: $290.13
RRP: $388.13

900+
Wholesale: $236.28
RRP: $315.00

Prices from techpac

Also, while i was looking, there are still 660's available, which i think are prism based, for pcmcia -> pci cradle and pcmcia card it's $185.36, if anyone wants one of those, give me a yell

Hi icepick. I know I've already told you, but I'm interested in a DWL 2000AP and a DWL-G120.

Richms - you said that the power output of the 2000AP is low. Have you got any figures on it? How does it compare to other 802.11g AP's?

35mW...so your already 3dB down on a 100mW AP, nothing that an amplifier cant help with tho

Also, does anyone know the trick to changing a US sourced one to allow operation up to channel 13/14?

most APs/cards are about 30mW, including the 900+'s

I have a 2000AP up and running fine it has a good range. I was not aware that it did not have the same power output as others, how does that compair to the 1000ap as i also have one of those and could swap them.

Although i must say the features of the 2000ap are real nice.

Warning about flashing to bios though if you go up to version 2.0 of the bois if found my lucent cards could nolonger see the ap bit other card types could.

I flashed the bios back to version 1.7 and they could all see it again fine...

Someone corrected me that the ones I saw that were 100mW were after the 3dB gain of there antenna, so that made them 35 in anycase.

Authough looking round there were some that took PCMCIA cards that went up to 200mW... mmmmmm 200mW
