I have an Apple Airport Extreme as my router/internet connection. It works fine and is wired to my PC. However we live in a house with thick walls so i decided to add the D-Link dwl-2100ap as a repeater to it.
Set it as repeater and it worked like a charm. After a full day work at the kitchen table on a laptop it suddenly became unstable. When i investigated more I found out that the router(repeater) was up and running; the strength was excellent but any time i or the laptop tried to renew the IP address it failed.
I rebooted all routers and laptops. It seems to work fine (now and then) but I still get the occasional problem that any of the laptops, iPhones or iPads are not able to connect to the internet. I can work but it is annoying.
I've read numerous articles about this and the 'best' possible solution is to delete the SSID on the laptop and add the new SSID (same network as before) so it let's the AP release a new Ip address. Does anyone have a better and permanent solution? (Please refrain telling me that the hardware is incompatible or that any of the brands are crap! it all worked before) Maybe static Ip addresses? Or
