Question Assigning Different Network SSID

Hope someone can help me understand what is happening. I am new to this forum, but was referred here for assistance. My home network SSID is called Big Daddy. I have several laptops and another desktop that connect to my secure home network. We I connect via my laptop it goes through the normal process, asks for network key, etc. Then it assigns a name of "Big Daddy 2" -- Okay so where is this "2" coming from? It does this with any other device connected. Please help if someone can. Thanks!
