Default Beginner in need to help regarding wireless/modem problems!

I am new here and hoping someone can help me out.

A few days ago now my wireless internet on my laptop which i use for work started to cut out intermittently. I could access the internet sometimes for up to 20 minutes and then it would cut out again but sometimes in happens every couple of minutes. When this happens it seems that the internet light on the modem has turned red. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to resolve it?

To the best of my knowledge no configuration or anything has been changed on my laptop and also when connecting the home pc via ethernet the net doesnt cut out at all. I am confused as to why this could suddenly have occurred for no apparent reason.

Any help would be much appreciated. Louise.
