This is a very similar issue to the earlier ones highlighted with belkin products by the sounds of it, but i have also had a number of hits via searches on the web of similar issues with outher products.
I have a belkin router providing me with a wireless access to a broadband connection etc around my house. I have a desktop computer (currently npot connected) and two laptops. One I have connected after having a faulty card, the other is not reading the card as a wireless card.
The inital card i had worked once on both machines, the second time i went to use it i inserted the card and windows detected it as new hardware, with a ballon saying, "PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTRER" and loading the found new hardware wizard. I have tried downloading the drivers from belkin, reinstalling and am now on the second card but one of my machines keeps having this error.
This sounds like a bios issue ie. a conflict with something!! (WILD GUESS)
Problem is tho this is my laptop that doesnt work!! Everyone elses is fine!!
bit extreme but have you tried nuking your computer? or less extreme running spybot etc. on it? because ive just seen 2 computers within a week timeframe that have had hardcore networking problems and the problem was some stupid timer virus. look at processes running, I saw VTTIMER on one and a different name timer on the other. Plays havoc with any network card. i.e will work one second, then refuse to work the other.
make sure youve done all the windows updates.
if not nuke your computer if you can. that way you can cancel out software error. if its still doing it, card maybe wierd.
