Belkin router issues

Ive setup a wireless netowrk using a belkin g router, its fine for surfing but when i want to play games i run into trouble

i think this is the problem, if i open the belkin networking program i can see that the router loses its connection to the internet for a second or 2 at a time, when surfing this is hardly noticable but when i play online i get big lag spikes. Any ideas on how to make my network more stable?

What type of internet connection is it (cable, ADSL, etc)? Check the wiring and if it's ADSL, see if any other devices on your phone line are interfering by removing them one at a time.

I have exactly the same problem with my Belkin N1 Wireless Modem Router, its like the signal from the router to the network card is dropping out every couple of minutes for a period of around 5 seconds. I managed to get a screenshot of it in action on Call Of Duty United Offensive. I have an ADSL 2mb connection... Any help would be greatly appreciated

I used "cg_lagometer 1" on the in-game console to bring up any lag experienced, as you can see the red blocks are where the router is recieving then losing signal? It is very annoying whilst playing to jerk around, plus the added bonus of being called a lagger noob is getting tiresome...

Please help...

Is this router designed for games? I had some bad experiences with a few linksys models, and it turns out they really werent right for online gaming. I dont know the model i have now off the top of my head, but I know it was made just for gamers and i never have a problem.

Yea it actually says this router is "great"

for online gaming, streaming HD video, listening to digital music, etc, blah blah blah. I finally managed to email them with the problem and Belkin said to change the TCP/UDP ports to my routers firewall. But I have the router's firewall disabled anyway... So that wasn't going to help in the first place. Its getting very frustrating.
