BT2700HGV Remote administration - how do you set this up?

Got a BT2700HGV and want to be able to connect to it remotely and configure it like i can with most all other broadband routers i have ever had but can't see how to do it - anyone know if its possible?

Also, i'm trying to remotely control a device using ports 5000 and 5001 but the device is not a windows PC so it doesn't register a hostname and i cant see a way to select an IP address of a host on the network. is this possible?

should i just throw it away?
