Can connect to Router but not to the internet

Hi there, got a strange problem with the laptop of my flatmate.

I can access the internet just fine over our router using both WLan and patch cable. He can connect to the router (via wireless and patch cable), configure the router and so on without any problems but he can't connect to the internet (the "website can't be found" message comes quite instantly with IE and Firefox.

I copied my internet settings as fas as i was able. Automatic IP and Gateway address, subnet mask and so on. And I'm quite certain that most are correct, since he can access the router just fine.


Anyway, I'm completely at loss... I tried netsh winsock reset catalog and netsh int ip reset, but to no avail.


If someone could help me :-/

Are you sure that his TCP/IP settings are set to "Obtain DNS server address automatically."
