I have been working on a friends Sony VAIO vgn-sz330p laptop. It was WinXP Pro and installed in it is an Intel Pro 3945ABG Network adapter. I have installed the latest drivers but could still not get the vaio to connect through wireless.
The router I am using is a Netgear WGR614 with updated firmware. I am writing this now from a different laptop connected to the same router.
My problem is that when I try to connect to the AP with the vaio with options on the cards tcp/ip setting to 'Obtain IP automatically' and 'Obtain DNS automatically' the vaio will only say that it is connected but will 'Acquire network address' FOREVER. -- BUT when I go into the tcp/ip setting and assign the card in the vaio an IP (10.0.0.17), subnet (255.255.255.0) , default gateway (10.0.0.1) and put my routers address (10.0.0.1) as my DNS server -- Everything works fine ?!
Can someone help me figure out what/why the vaio will not obtain an IP automatically ? I'll appreciate all help and info. Thank you - justin
