Can`t install an airlink wifi adapter in a computer with an existing airlink adapter
Hello. I bought an airlink wifi adapter ( AWLH4130 MODEL ) with atheros chipset. I have had it for a long time and it is working perfectly fine. Since this adapter is cheap and has an atheros chipset ( which lets me use it in linux as well ) I am very satisfied with it, and I bought a new one ( of the same model ) for sharing the internet connection that I am getting from the old adapter, with the idea to configure my computer as a home router and share internet to other computers at my house.
The installation instructions provided by the vendor say that I should place the adapter in a pci slot, turn on my pc, abort the windows add new hardware program and install the software using the installation software provided with the wifi adapter, I did so. I have to say that I already did the exact same procedure with my first adapter and it worked perfectly well, but after I installed the driver for the second card and I rebooted the system, windows launched the driver for installing new hardware, just as if I had not installed the driver at all. I am thinking that it is a conflict with the old wifi adapter, because the installer tries to create diretories that already exist ( because the old adapter is the same brand and model ). The installation software should be smart enought to detect an older adapter and create new files for the new adapter, but it seems that it does not. I then tried to install the driver using the windows assistant for installing new hardware, and using the automatic driver search feature, but it didnt work, the hardware is not capable to start. I asked the vendor for support, but I thougth that someone here could probably had the same problem in the past and could be able to help me. Thanks in advance.
