Cannot add new wireless computer to network

Thanks for helping me out here.

I have a wireless lan connection (1 - wired , 1 - wireless ) . I want to add another wireless computer to the network.

The existing connection is a speedtouch router and a speedtouch 121g wireless adapter. I didn't have to do prettu much anything to set them up together, but to add the new wireless is causing problems.

to start off, i can see the network and i put in the SSID and it connects to the network but does not give it an ip address. When i give the new wireless comp a static ip, it connects, but under my network places, there is no network to choose from.

On the speedtouch ( 585 v6 ) router, i searched for the wireless devices and and found the new device and added it, but the device said it gave it a static ip address of 0.0.0.0 . I didnot have to do any of these to add the wireless 121 adapter .

Can you give me any suggestions as to what i can try? do I need to buy a new speedtouch adapter and disable the inbuilt one?
