changed encryption, no pass key offered.

I have a Compaq V2410US, XP pro, wireless laptop that is having problems connecting to my home wifi since I changed the encryption method from WPA to WEP to accommodate a new wireless printer.

The laptop finds the router under wireless network connection and attempts to connect. It says connected but below in the same box it says it is NOT connected.

The problem, I think, I am not being offered an opportunity to change to the new pass key for the new encryption method. How can I do this?

I found the properties section for this wifi and now able to connect using WEP. The problem now, is it doesn't stay connected for more than 5 minutes.
