Clients connecting to wrong router on bridged wlan?

As in the title my wireless clients are connecting to the wrong router in my wireless bridge.

I have 1 netgear router at the back of my house with an ip of 192.168.1.1 and a d-link router running ddwrt at the front of the house with an ip of 192.168.1.2.

My PC/Server is in the same room as my netgear router but for some reason opts to connect to my d-link router which is further away?

My PC/Server has an ip of 192.168.1.3 and has the gateway and dns set to 192.168.1.1, I don't get it?

Also I am now sat right next to the netgear router on my netbook which has no static address set which is choosing to connect to the d-link router despite being literally 3ft away from the netgear

Please help.
