Default Connecting a linksys router to dlink access point

Hello folks
Hoping someone can offer some advice. I have linksys wireless g router, what i would like to do is connect a dlink wireless access point so that I can connect a network camera about 70 feet away from the router. That way I would not have to run network cable to camera. The problem i am having is i cannot connect to the wireless access point ie 192.168.0.50, Ive tried with a direct hookup to a laptop via network cable etc.but no luck. Even tried playing with router set up but no avail. Any help would to appriciated

You are trying to connect an AP to a wireless router. That does not work. Incompatible plumbing.

A wireles router IS an AP. An AP with a router, switch, firewall and DHCP server added to it.

A wireless router creates a wireless network. An AP creates a wireless network. CLIENTS associate with APs and wireless routers.

What you want is a bridge. A bridge is a client that may have a router, switch, firewall and DHCP server added to it.

If your Linksys is compatible with Sveasoft, DD-WRT, Open WRT or other third party firmware, you can make that happen with a firmware upgrade.
