Default Connecting xBox 360 to Airport home network via linksys

I don't know what I'm doing. I have been attempting to connect my xbox 360 to the home network with an external router (not the xbox wireless adapter). I have tried both an airport extreme, which was not recognized by the xbox; and a lynksys wrt54g, which was recognized by the xbox but was unable to find the network connected to the internet. Our home network is run by an apple time capsule connected to our fios. I need to know how to get xbox to recognize the airport extreme router, or how to configure the lynksys to sync up to the Airport Time Capsule. If anyone knows what to do, I will be eternally grateful haha.
