**ERROR** "Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to network
I just installed a router for the first time and configuring my COMPAQ laptop (oper syst XP), The laptop is wireless compatible and when I boot up I receive the pop-up window noting "Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to network". When I set up the router I modified the default Security Code and would think this is what it's asking for. When I open Network Connections the wireless connection indicates "connected" with a status of "Validating identity, Firewalled. Then I turned off the Windows Firewall and now the status is just "Validating identiy".
How do I correct the message request for logging on a certificate?
Not to worry I was able to fix this on my own. After trying everything on the COMPAQ laptop I decided to re-install the router with a higher level of security (WPA rather than WEP) and that got rid of the problem. All is working now and wife is happy.
