Default Have to restart computer all the time

I have a HP laptop and Verizon FIOS internet. Well, it takes about 5 minutes to connect to wireless in my house. Then if I close the lid or computer sleeps, it is not showing a wireless connection - only local ones?? So, I have to reboot my computer, just so it trys and finds the wireless again.

Can you help
