Help please!! - unable to aquire IP address

Hello,

I am new and this is my first post. There are loads of posts so please excuse me if I am repeating nay threads here.

I have a problem and I am unable to solve it.

I have a wireless modem/router with my broadband.

I ave two laptops; a dell and a sony. My dell is able to connect wirelessly but my sony is having problems.

It is able to detect the network and it has the correct encryption; however, it is constantly trying to aquire the IP address.

The laptop os a Sony Vaio VGN-FE11S

Can anyone help??

I would be really grateful if someone knows what I ahve done wrong.
