Hi,
I have a Belkin router which I would like to use to connect my recording studio PC (Win 7) to an android phone for remote desktop use, but have no internet connection at my studio at all.
When trying to get the PC to recognise the router, it asks for an internet connection, so seemingly I can't get it installed. I have tried but can't get to the router setup page in a web browser either.
I also have an old usb wireless adaptor, so I tried setting up an ad-hoc network. To my surprise, my friends iphone found the network immediately and was using the remote desktop app with no problems. I did some research and found out that android phones don't support ad-hoc networks without rooting the phone.
I'd rather not do this as I can connect to my homes wireless network and use the remote desktop apps without a problem (android to router) even with the modem completely disconnected.
It seems ridiculous to me, but this appears to be the only solution:
Take the studio computer and belkin router back to my house, plug my modem in just to set it up, then take it back to the studio to use without internet?
Surely there is a way of setting up a WLAN network at my internetless studio without shipping the computer out?
Any help would be greatly appreciated - ideally I don't want to buy anything else if I don't have to... (like an iphone/pad)
Thanks in advance
