I live in a hostel with Free Wireless wi-fi connection

There is a SSID named say "jawa" and it gets my internet connection going ones connected. This is the common SSID used for all ROuters about 45 in the hostel But, in mid comes another SSID named "get your own Wi-Fi" and it somewhat restricts the speed of my connection.

Please tell me how can I too divert more speed to my laptop.

I have dual Partition Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04.
