Unhappy internet disconnecting

Can anyone please help? I have been having a lot of problems with my internet disconnecting,there is a little icon with 2computer symbols at bottom right of screen with a red x through it when i clicked on it it said "LOCAL AREA CONNECTION NETWORK CABLE UNPLUGGED
NVIDIA NFORCE NETWORK CONTROLLER" would this have anything to do with my internet problems? hope someone can help.
