Default linksys WAG354G and linksys WAG200G

Hi there.

Hi work on a warehouse with 50 meters long.

At the moment, I have DSL signal at the begining of the warehouse, with a linksys WAG200G. This router has also wireless functionality active.

At the end of the warehouse I have 2 laptops and its wireless signal (from linksys router) is very week.

So, my problem is, I want the wireless signal to be stronger. This WAG200G has a fixed antenna, so I can not put a stronger one.

I thought about this: I have a linksys WAG354G in the box. On this one I can put a better antenna (7db maybe).

So I wonder, should I link WAG354G to the WAG200G, and then configure wireless on the first one (with better antenna)? If yes, how? Wich mode should I choose in WAG354G?

BTW, WAG200G mode is RFC 2516 PPPoE.

Hope you understand. Sorry my English.

Paez

You can use a remote access point (AP) at the far end of the warehouse. Connect it to the Linksys gateway router with cat5 cable through one of the RJ45 jacks. Usually the remote AP is set to the same SSID as the router but set to a different channel. But you can experiment with these settings.

It might also be possible to use the WAG354G as an AP.

Hi.

Thanks for the answer.

I forgot to tell. Due to bunch of reasons, it's not possible to install any type of cable around the warehouse.

Yesterday, I tried to install a new antenna (6db) on the WAG354G. No good results.

There's a possibility to move ADSL line to the middle of the ware house. If that's possible, I'll move both routers there.

I cannot see another way. Maybe the antenna that I tried is not enough... maybe it would work with a better one. I just don't want to spend my days buying gadgets to try new solutions, and return it in the very same way.

Thanks.

Paez

The minimum antenna over the production antenna should be 9db to give any tangible
results. This is because most production antenna are between 3-6db.

If you have a power source somewhere near the middle of the warehouse then you could always install an AP to extend the range of your wireless network. Most APs will function as a repeater but without the compatibility issues of a repeater. Even if your power source is up near the roof it doesn't matter.

Regards

Fred
