Default Local DNS Servers

Hi

What is the purpose of Configuration > Networking > Advanced > Local DNS Servers.

Let's say I have an internal DNS server at IP address 192.168.1.1 that answers queries for xyz.local. If I set client workstations to use as Preferred DNS, will this setting allow to pass queries for xyz.local to the internal DNS server?

Thanking You.
