Default MTU Confusion

I have just purchased this ADSL Ethernet router:

Extra Value 4 Port ADSL / ADSL2/2+ Modem Router - Ebuyer

When I configured my Internet connection on here I found that I could not access some websites. For example:

Microsoft.com
MSN.com
Windows Live Messenger, etc.

I did some research into this and I figured that I could change the MTU settings on the router and then change them on the computer using drtcp.

I change the router MTU settings from 1500 to 1492 and then I did this on drtcp. It works fine on this machine, however any other computers I connect to this router they will not display microsoft.com or anything like before.

I don't want to be going around changing the MTU Settings every time I add another computer to this router, so is there a setting I could set on this router that it I can connect any machine to it and it will just work.

My Internet connection is Orange Broadband, if you need any other information please let me know.

If you have questions about Orange it is sometimes worth asking here:-

Thanks for the quick reply. I should have mentioned that I've already viewed the Orangeproblems website. I will try asking on thinkbroadband. Again what I'm after is being able to just connect the router to any computer and have it work with any website (like the Netgear router I had before it packed up). without having to use drtcp on every machine.

I just had a quick look on the safecom website and even they say to adjust on every PC. AOL connections were always ones that you had to adjust MTU for so on the page regarding AOL for that router.:-

Thanks for the help

I may as well RMA the router then as changing the MTU every time is really going to get annoying. Since I dual boot all of my machines anyway.

Update:

I've sent the router back and I've replaced it with this one:

Dynamode R-ADSL-C4-2 4-Port ADSL2+ Router Modem

Should arrive on Wednesday and from what I've read I shouldn't have any problem with using this.

I can't be changing the MTU on every client machine that I get so would this configuration be possible:

As you can see from this diagram the Dynamode ADSL Router is going into the Main computer which is running Windows Vista Home Premium x64. I changed the MTU settings on this computer to 1492 and I can access any websites.

The second ethernet connection is going from the Dynamode ADSL router to an ME 102 Access point, which is sending the Internet connection through wireless to another ME 102 which is an access point client.

Now obviously I have to change the secondary computer MTU settings to 1492 and this machine runs Windows XP Home Edition sp2 so I can do this through DRTcp. There are two network cards in this machine and Windows XP has been configured to share the Internet connection from NIC 1 (Connected to the ME102) to NIC 2 (Which connects to customers computers when I repair them so I can check the Internet access and do updates.

My question is that now I accept the only way to do this with Orange is to change the MTU settings on every machine but is there any way I can set up a method on the secondary machine so I don't have to change the MTU settings on the customers machines as this could cause problems when they take them home?

Also on another unrelated note is changing the MTU Settings on the computer to 1492 affecting security in any way? I cannot find a way to actually change this from the router.
