Default My wireless cant be detected when one particular wireless network is in range

Hi guys,

I have a Belkin54g modem/router. I use a laptop and have no problems accessing it but when neighbour's wireless network is switched on and is detected by my laptop, I wouldnt be able to see my own connection in the connection box.

Whenever my neighbour's wireless network is detected by my laptop, I cant see mine. And when his wireless network is offline, I get to see mine and hence get to connect to it.

What could be the problem? One thing i know is that my neighbour also uses the same modem/router as mine because the connection name is 'Belkin54g'. Mine was also 'Belkin54g' by default but I have changed the name long ago.

p/s- when i said that my laptop cant detect my own connection if it detects my neighbour's connection, i dont mean i get connected to my neighbours connection. his is secured. all im saying is if i can see his wireless network listed in my list of 'wireless connection within range', mine would never appear.

probably on the same channel. I also think switching channels will fix the problem.
