So the problem is that my 2 wrt54gs v2 routers with updated firmware will not allow my laptop to connect to the wireless internet. I know the internet works because it is directly plugged into my desktop from a motorola cable modem from Cincinnati bell/Timewarner. The router was spitting out wireless until I used dd-wrt firmware to try and get my xbox to go wireless. The PRIMARY router was stock, I even changed the firmware back to linksys and no luck.
It seems as though the only problem is that the internet will not "pass through" the router and go wireless. When I plug the desktop into the LAN port of the PRIMARY router with the internet plugged into the WAN port it will not connect, I get an IP but no DNS. DNS is automatically assigned as well because everything is default stock firmware on the router. I even tried using different routers(1st another wrt54gs then a netgear) and no luck. There is something going wrong between the routers and the modem (Motorola SBV5220 Surfboard modem with power,DS,US,online, and link lights on and a flashing tel 1 light)or an ISP thing not sure.
I was also wondering if my ISP can block router requests.
