Neep help please!! Extend range with second router

Hi everybody,

I would like to thank everybody in advance!

My situation:

I am college student living in a single family house with 5 other people and we have a DLink DI-624 router connected to a cable modem on the main floor of the house and everybody in the house connects to that router with their laptop. Now I have an extra Netgear WGR614 v9 router available and was wondering if I could use it to extend the range of the primary router to the deadzones in the house. Any suggestions?
