Default Netgear Wireless dropping

I have a netgear router.

I have had this router for a while and im really starting to get sick of it. Everytime an incomming connection occurs i completely drop the entire network.

Two computers wirelessly connected, one hard wired.

For example, if i try to play WarRock, once i get into a game my router freezes and i have to unplug it and plug it back in. I have ports forwarded. Some applications freeze it and some do not. For example, windows netmeeting i have the ports forwarded to my machine. When someone calls me it works just fine, Remote desktop works just fine, however, GAIM i have the ports forwarded to me, if someone tries to transfer a file to me or directly connect under linux or windows, it will freeze everything, my entire network loses all internet connectivity. My computer seems to think its still connected as it tells me i have good signal. Also when i disconnect from the network i can still see my wireless signal, but when i try to reconnect it fails.

Any help would be appreciated. Also if you know of any router that can assign ip address based on mac address please let me know! i understand that the linksys wrt54g cannot do this unless you load different firmware on it.
