Default New wireless router installation

I installed a new router WRT300N.
Enabled WEP, with a passphrase and generated the security.

When i connect, it prompts for passphrase/security key.
It accepts only with the security key and not the passphrase.

For new connections I would need to copy the security key that was generated.

How can I make it accept the passphrase that was used?

Thumbs up

Hi there,

Are you positive the device is brand new and is not a refurb that has been previously used and pawned off to you? If it is a refurb, someone may have used it prior to you with different security settings. Did the packaging look brand new? etc.

Assuming the brand of that device is Linksys - try this solution:

Run ipconfig/renew and at the command line try your password again and it may work.

Failing that, let me know and I will try to help you.

Regards - Mark
