Default Is PDA 2 PC (p2p) possible via WiFi?

Hi

I'm trying to set up just 1 x PC with 1 x PDA using just a USA 2 WiFi adapter.
Is it possible?

PC is not connected to anything else.
Want to use PDA as a remote, PC is a HTPC /theater box..etc

Can ping each other.
Can generate an error msg on PC eg: use same IP etc.
But they just wont comm, trying to use NetRemote.

Tryed (almost) everything, static IPs, adhoc, Win XP p2p pack/install, no security, has good signal strength, yad yada yada....

Details: PC XP s1, Pent4 3Ghz
PDA: iPaq 112 (classic) built-in Wifi
USA adapter: Netgear WG111

If this is not possible, just say.
Thanks
