Question requesting advice

One of my friends has a problem, he's using nonwireless network in his place and lan port of his laptop broke. He has 2 laptops.. is it possible for the 2nd laptop to stream wifi internet over to the 1st laptop without a router? I know in theory that using ad-hoc it is possible.. any help?
