Simple Question please help?

I am trying to pick up a wireless hot spot down the street around 3 blocks away. I have a 24dbi antenna hooked up to a linksys WRT54G router. Is there any way to receive the signals through the router? As it is hooked up to the router right now i can drive all the way down the street and pick up my connection full signal strength. My question once again though is how do i receive the signal? Is there any setting i can go through within my router, or any type of software i can use to pick up the hotspot? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

To pick up the signal through the router I think you have to connect an Ethernet wire from the hot spot router to your router, so in other words, no, you can't receive it through the router...That I know of.

The best way would be to connect your 24 dBi antenna to your wireless card. That will work fine for what your wanting to do.

Download DD-WRT firmware. Easy if your router is Version 4 or earlier, not so easy if its Version 5 up.

Set it up as a Client Bridge.
